While it may be surprising to some, the move makes sense because McCoy will be around a lot longer and may mature into an excellent backup for Brandon Weeden. He was also due more in salary and wasn't getting any younger. Wallace has been unable to outplay Colt McCoy for the backup QB job. Fort, however, has shown he can be a force on defense and may see some playing time due to the thin depth at linebacker.
